Group C #1 Tunisia - Zambia 4:1(1:1)

Zambia played an adventerous interpretation of a kind of 'football total' (coach Kalusha Bwalya had been a long year PSV Eindhoven midfielder). Whenever an opportunity opened the Zambians attacked very quickly with a great number of players, surprising the more coventionally thinking Tunesians who seemed to have problems to adapt to this approach.
Surprising how Zambia could keep up that intensive running game for 90 minutes.
The Tunisians were physically superior. In defence this was rather a disadvantage against the quickly moving Zambian forwards but in attack the Tunisians clearly had the edge in set pieces although they blew a handful of great opportunities coming from the air superiority..
Eventually Tunisia succeeded thanks to the cold finishing of Brasilian import Santos, who scored three times 1:1('36), 3:1('83), and 4:1('90+3).
Zambia who had taken the lead after 7 minutes ironically dominated the second half until the third Tunesian goal and were unlucky at two occasions when Mbesuma missed once close and was denied by the keeper a second time after fine combinations.
Tunisia had scored their second goal after 51 minutes through a header after one of those set pieces who were poison for the Zambian defence.
