Group B #5 Cameroon - Congo DR 2:0(2:0)
Congo started the match drawn back only to run fast attacks on the few losses of possessions by the Cameroon team, which, already qualified for the quarter finals, had been changed on several positions.
A mistake as Cameroon patiently and comfortably passed the ball around to wait on their opportunities.
And one of their strengths, set pieces, brought the lead after 30 minutes through a 25 meter free kick (Geremi '31).
Against the now unsettled Congolese defence a quick second goal by Eto'o put the Central Africas with their backs to the wall.
At halftime it looked likely goal difference would play a deciding role between Angola and Congo DR in the race for the second place in the group with Congo DR a half goalin the lead.
The game became more quiet but Eto'o still with several attempts, playing as if this was his personal World Cup.
A horrible kick against his opponent on the ground brought the Congolese Bokese the red card and was of a kind that should have more juridical implications than limited on the sports sector.
The rest of the match was 'unfortunate' as neither team attempted to score anymore.

Group B #4 Cameroon - Togo 2:0(0:0)
The lions were a class ahead and only the missing of several great opportunities could be criticized.
This eventually was made up for by two brilliant goals when first Eto'o fired a rocket from 25 meters into the roof of the net and later he paced through the Togolese defence to set up substitute Ze Meyong perfectly backheeling it across the line.
Togo only had two top format players in keeper Agassa and striker Adebayor and were seeking their chance in crowded defence and long balls on the striker.
It almost had worked when Adebayor, who was obviously a threat to the Cameroonian defence, suddenly had the chance but was stopped perfectly in one on one by the Camerron keeper Souleymanou, who again had a strong game.
Togo are already eliminated and Cameroon are already qualified for the second round.
DR Congo needs a point from the third match to be safe.

MATCHES AND RESULTS > GROUP B Tags: Cameroon
Group B #1 Cameroon - Angola 3:1(2:1)
An entertaining match confirmed why Angola qualified for Germany and in the same moment in what department their problems are.
The team is well organised and the ball circulates fast. Angolas player keep the ball for significantly less touches than Cameroon's. Stikk the players achieve a high accuracy.
This style requires a lot of running. which becomes a problem when Angolas players face opponents from leagues with high physical standards.
Cameroon confirmed recent strengths and weaknesses: In the days before the match rumours circulated about a strike threat of the coach team over unpaid wages.
The team is able to force goals when they gear up the pace. But a new desease lets the lions lose grip when they take a 1:0 lead. In several games recently they allowed their opponents back into the game and to euqalize. Not different against Angola.
Both teams and especially Angola with their fluent passing game, profited from the much better pitch than in the Côte d'Ivoire Morocco game.
It was Samuel Eto'o who gave the lead to cameroon by a terrific free kick. Angola equalized by a penalty after the sent through Akwa had been fouled by the Cameroon keper.
Cameroon retook the lead when they speeded up and Eto'o came from behind to run into a well timed Douala cross.
Both teams had alternating strong passages, among the goal scenes a spectacular bycicle kick by Akwa (wide left).
After 75 minutes, like in the first half, Angola looked a bit tired and gave more space to cameroon. This resulted in Eto'o unchallenged 20 meters to the goal. He did not hesistate and fired into the far corner - 3:1
Conspicious as well the Cameroon keeper. It was again Souleymanou who is preferred to Kameni by Arthur Jorge.Apart from the penalty he had a solid game and one spectacular scene, when he NFL-quarterback like after intercepting a cross quickly threw tha ball for about 60 meters into attack to Webo who had escaped his defender and would have run unchallenged towards the keeper - unfortunately ruled offside.

PREVIEWS > GROUP B Tags: Cameroon
PREVIEWS > Group B > Cameroon
Number 1 in Africa. Four time Nations Cup winners and have already two successes (2000 and 2002) in the just begun century.
Europe comparisons: population: Netherlands football level: Germany
Clubs: 30 years ago top, today relatively meaningless
Squad: all professionals at Europe. Young talents exit the country early to get educated at European clubs but have nowadays to compete with a lot of talents from other parts of Africa.
Coach: European. (Artur Jorge)
Cameroon want to win the cup after the huge World Cup disappointment and are the team to beat. They can force results although their striking power is limited after Mboma quit. Cameroon are usually dominatig matches by their one on one superiority.
In the World Cup qualifiers it had been conspicuous how the team lost focus and concentration when the match seemed apparently under control (Sudan and Egypt home games).
Stars: Eto’o (Barcelona), expect him to fulfil a more drawn back kind of role, as Cameroon have only limited potential at that position and leave the front job to Webo from Osasuna. That is why Eto’o does not score as many goals for the national team.
Conspicious: The reservoir of huge talent on the goalkeeping position. Long throw ins by Geremi (Chelsea) from the right and Womé from the left in case he will be in the squad.
Some players are refusing to play after past conflicts with the administration (Lauren).
