Trouble in Togo and Congo DR camps
After the match Togo-Congo DR it was learned that there had been trouble in both camps.
A twist between star Adebayor and coach Keshi was the background for Adebayor only playing the last 30 Minutes and threatening he would leave the team the next day. He did not, saying it was the wish of his mother.
Unpaid bonuses led to a strike in the Congo camp which was eventually not upheld for the match itself. A phonecall 10 minutes before the game to encourage the players was received from president Joseph Kabila, the son of the former president Laurent-Desiré Kabila. It is recommended to read the background on Wikipedia here.

Group B #2 Togo - Congo DR 0:2(0:1)
An entertaining match bewteen two teams with strengths and weaknesses, in which DR Congo had more from the first and Togo more from the second.
DR Congo playing with vision, combinating well and impressed with relatively small players from their home league and european 2nd rank, guided by their inspirational captain Lualua.
It was a match of inoumerous big chances from which DR Congo had the majority. Conspicious too their weaknesses in the back, where the players had great skills with the balls but not always in marking.
Too many chances were missed oin both sides but eventually the better team scored through Mputu ('45) and Lualua ('64) and hit the goal post another two times..
Togo played 60 minutes without key figure Adebayor, which was first explained as a stomach problem. This revelaed itself as an argument between coach Keshi and the new Arsenal recruit.
In the 30 minutes of his play it showed that the Congolese defenders are rather small nagainst physically strong attackers and should avoid corner kicks and free kick crosses as well.

PREVIEWS > Group B > Togo
Only appeared regularly at recent Nations Cups. Have never reached the second round.
Europe comparisons:: Slovenia
Clubs: meaningless
Squad: Majority of players in lower divisions at Europe..
Coach: African. Stephen Keshi (Nigeria).
Togo like to compare themselves to Senegal 2002, whom they beat during the World Cup qualifiers.
An extraordinary coach has formed an exceptionally performing squad with players recruited mainly from French clubs. So far so good. The difference is: Togos players come from lower divisions while Senegals players had been top League 1 performers at top clubs in 2002. Nevertheless Togo have collected the most points in the World Cup qualifiers of all African teams. Weak opposition?
The biggest problem is exaggerated expectations: Former striker Salou expects the semi-finals.
The exceptional constellation of success is in danger considering African football hysteria.
Stars: Adebayor, striker (Monaco)
Conspicious: a hard to beat goalkeeper, if healthy.
